My first SLR pictures

Okay I bought my D40 on Saturday and took loads of pictures on Sunday.
What do you think? Be honest so that I can improve

i cant really comment on 1 as i dont really like them nor dislike it, although in 3 the backround is far too cluttered and i think taking the shot from a lower angle like eye level would make it more 'intimate' i think is what they say lol. In 4 well theres a tree infront of her face and it is causing massive shadows which dont really help the shot either
But i personally like number 2.

the compositions arn't great, no 2 is ok. My only comment, is to look at the light falling on peoples faces. try to get it even, no3 is good in this aspect. Move to a shaded area if you need to.
