My first steam shot of the year.

I was hoping to post three shots this weekend but unfortunately the "Cotton Mill Express" that I was also going to photograph was cancelled.

However "Tornado" was doing a test run round the Leeds/York loop after it's winter service and prior to taking the royal train later this week.

Here she is hurrying past Rothwell Country Park.

The track bed isn't level that's why the nearside rail is lower than the outer.

I had forgotten all about the Cotton Mill express and as usual it got cancelled

a lot of the railway lines are uneven when I have shot trains in recent times I noticed just how uneven the Lines are

The track is banked on curves, what is called super-elevation.

As ever Swiss, a fine shot of a fine machine. Cheers for the heads up on the royal train. As I got a bit bowled by low steam at Burton Salmon last time I may have to venture out again.
