hiya i took this a while ago but just been messing around in photoshop with it

this was the orginal with a lil skin smoothing and colour fix in lightroom

430ez 1/4 up high slight camera left. No reflector used in this one.

Lightroom to change bk colour to grey and remove a mark on his face. also high pass effect in photoshop and lowered sat by 30%

think this was taken with my 50mm 1.8

As per requested this is it in B&W with some contrast

Lovely photo and smile. My only comment is it appears to be over sharpened. Not sure if this is the result in uploading to web or not. Otherwise (y)
 
I think the over sharpening is to do with the high pass filter. Its a good portrait but perhaps just a little too crisp for its own good.
 
It is a nice portrait but can't help feeling he would stand out soo much more if the background were slightly darker.
 
yea i know what you mean about the background. The original is alot softer i messed around with different layers of high pass to give it this effect it was what i was looking for.
Iv seen other people do this alot better than my attempt *** lol
 
Would be interested to see what the first pic would look like in B&W with a bit of contrast.

Great shots though.
 
That first one looks wayyy to sharp for my taste.

Older skin looks better softer.. therefore i like the second shot best.
