My Nikon buying fest!

Did it all arrive then? Got visions of you lying on the floor in a pool of golden boxes!

Mine all arrives next week hopefully. Got one golden box so far which is acting as a very expensive paperweight right now :cuckoo:

:D

At least with it being delivered you don't have to stop the car on the way home and move the D700 from the passenger seat to the boot in order to remove the temptation to start rummaging through the box and getting the camera out every time the traffic stops and not realising it is moving again until people start beeping at you :whistling:

Smirk ;)

Should look for a charger and at least on battery in advance, it's going to kill me waiting for them to charge!

And I bet they all arrive on Thursday. I work Monday, Tuesday and have Wednesday off so Thursday means I have to wait till Saturday to have a proper play.

I had best get on and finish the wedding album I started on Wednesday because I want the decks clear for playtime :)

How many sleeps?

On the topic of new arrivals I have a 70-200 VRII arriving tomorrow.

Well, please come back here and post a link to any thread with your pics in, won't you :) (if that's OK with Ali)?

Actually Radiohead, your photographs are some of the sharpest and best quality that I've ever seen on TP (and Nikon Cafe ;)), so heaven knows how things will go once you are let loose with the 70-200mm VR II :naughty:. Mine is most certainly the sharpest (and coolest ) lens that I've ever owned. I used it to take the pics for this listing for the lens that it replaces ...

Link ...

It feels like you could just reach into that first picture and pick the box up off the table :D (or am I flattering myself too much there :()!?

Anyway, you (and Ali) are sure to come up with much better images than that, which I'm very much looking forward to seeing .

I used one last week - so, so sharp at f2.8, great handling, amazing contrast and resistance to flare.

I do wish people would stop telling me how good this lens is - my credit card is starting to sweat. - Will hang on to see what Nikon announce on Wednesday before deciding...............

First thoughts on my new Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VRII, after a quick bimble with the lens (Mrs R is away skiing so I'm house-sitting 2 6 year-olds :D )

The handling is a little better for me - with the lens being shorter and fatter and less of a reach forward. The AF is noticeably faster and more confident. No question about it. It is reminiscent of the 14-24 and 24-70's in terms of colour, contrast and rendering (a good thing) and it has a clarity that the old VR1 can't match which may well be down to the Nano coating that's being used now. If there is a 24/1.4 coming next week it promises much. Obviously in the first photo Jess has obviously not had her hair brushed yet :D I've included it because this is at 200mm wide-open. Magnificent clarity.

I've a pre-wedding shoot next weekend that'll see the lens used in anger properly. Can't wait!

You and me both - on both counts. Please give us a 24 or 35 f1.4...

OMG!!!

That first one is just stunning. I love shots of children like that, hair unbrushed and all, so natural and wonderful light too. :)

I can see that, in your hands, it's going to be something special :) Thanks for the pics

I do wish you hadn't done that :) - they're superb, and your comments about the improvements don't help my credit cards

Well, I asked for it ... and I surely got it !

Those pictures are stunning, just like the ones that you posted from your 50mm f/1.4G (young Jess must surely be one of the most photographed 6 yr olds in the country by now :D).

Actually, 200mm, wide open is how I use mine a lot of the time (-DOF junkie that I am ;)). With other lenses, the wavering image quality usually reminds me to stop down at some point, but not so with this beauty!

Nikon rocks :naughty:!

As far as I'm aware... no. If you have a problem it will have to be sent back to the US for repair under warranty. Still didn't stop me getting a 70-200mm off Kerso mind.

Lenses you can :) They carry a full international warranty :D

Ah thanks Ali - looking forward to getting some proper use with it next weekend. These were just quick snaps around the house to see how it worked.

I do wish you hadn't done that :) - they're superb, and your comments about the improvements don't help my credit cards

You can't pin that on me :D

She certainly is - but luckily is quite happy to look solemn on occasion :)

Lenses have an international warranty - for some reason bodies don't.

You know you want it, why deny yourself! Go on, buy it!!!!

P.S. Can I borrow it, pretty please? :D

Seeing how nice this new 70-200 is Im starting to think that maybe I should get it instead of 135 DC and 85 1.4 for starters...add one wide prime and those 2 lenses would do me for a while :)
hmmmmm :coat: to think it over
