I was having a hard time deciding the best place to store my kit when it's at home. And as I'm quite safe with my kit, and like it to be secure from drops, being knocked over etc... I brought a couple of these

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=36796

I got them on offer for 20 each rather than 30, but I cant recommend them enough. I have 3 bodies, and a couple shorter lenses in one, and 3 large lenses in the other, L series telephotos etc... I keep my girlfriends kit with mine so there are 3 bodies and 8 lenses in both combined. Pretty tough cases, dropped one a few times by accident, and the foam is easily removed, put back in etc.. Can get your kit set real tight inside. Throw some silica gel sachets in there with them to guarantee a moisture free environment, job done.

Just thought Id share the tip, and no, I don't work for Maplin!

Luke, this doesn't link to an actual product..

Does for me

It's one of these:

I was concerned about the depth of the thing, due to having a 7D and L series glass is pretty chunky, but you can strip the pads as far down as you need to, and the case itself is padded under the pads, meaning you'll always have cushion for your stuff. Cant recommend them enough for store and chuck under the bed etc...
