Final day today of the National Track Championships at Manchester velodrome. They do move fast and when they go past at 30 MPH only 10 feet away it's hard to get focus ( well it is for me)
Iain, I found it very hard to get motion blur and sharp images they are moving so fast and so close you have to pan really fast and to do that with a slow shutter speed, well I just could not do it and 30 mph is the average speed from a standing start so much faster coming off the bends.
When I'm shooting at Manchester, I try to avoid the bends and go for panning in the straights. This way, I can whack the shutter lower and get some good, motion blur shots.
