ND filter question, advice required please

Penguin, circular/linear refers to the effective orientation of the polarising crystals in the glass, not the physical shape. All polarising filters have to be rotated for maximum effect, which varies in relation to the position/angle of the sun, and/or the polarising surface in the picture in the case of reflections.

Knew the first bit, which was why I was surprised that I saw a C-PL once which could not be rotated. This lead me down the wrong path...
Thanks

Cokin were known to also suffer from the same problem, but users seem to believe that this has been resolved by Cokin, and hence their new ND does not cast this colour effect.

When did Cokin fix the magenta cast? I bought some Cokin P ND grads last summer and they have a cast.

If anyone knows of a UK source for a 10-stop ND filter, I'd appreciate a pointer!

Here you go :)

I think it's fairly new as it's been reviewed (favourably) in some mags recently. IIRC it does produce a slight cast - very hard for an ND filter of this strength not to I guess - but of course you can correct it in PP, or maybe dial it out with custom white balance, depending on the colour cast. Not sure on that last bit - not tried it myself.

Thanks for that. At least any cast should be uniform across the frame...
