I swore I'd never do a what bag thread......but here it is.

Going back to africa next year and need a bag capable of hold stuff which ideally isnt to big. Last time took a Tamrac Expedition 6x - held everything, but was a bit cumbersome when travelling on a truck.

It needs to hold the following - a 5D with a 24-105 fitted and a 50D with a Sigma 120-400. I may be taking a 70-200 as well, can't decide wether it's in or out (I like a non lens change rule, but the 70-200 could be the ideal lens for gorillas). It'll also need to hold a small hard drive, memory batteries and stuff.

Any ideas welcome.

Edit - Ideally a backpack or slingpack too!

I think you could have a look at the ThinkTank retrospective series. Model 20 comes to mind.

Good hunting

That looks pretty interesting - loads of capacity, little bulk. The 120 - 400 is the nightmare lens, but I think that if that takes the 70-200 with hood fitted it probably has the length.

Have a look at the Kata 3N1 Family (see link). I have the 3N1-33 and it served me well on a trip to South Africa. The only trouble was that it was so capacious that I tended take more than I really needed and that made it heavy to carry. I'm now looking at getting a 3N1-22 (as well)!

The laptop pocket came in useful for carrying a laptop on the flights to and from SA. I also use it for various other 'flat' items when there isn't a laptop in there. If you don't need space for a laptop, you may get away with one of the earlier models: 3N1-20 or 3N1-30.
