hello all,

going out to take some photo's of a running race soon
the problem is the finish line has the sun behind it and it will finish about 8-8.30pm so bright light behind the running
how would you cope with this???

thanks for any advise

fill flash or slow the shutter speed, first will light hte whole scene evenly but if you use the on camera flash it could be quite unflattering, other option could lead to blurry images and will lead to a blown out sky (pretty much all white) maybe a comprimise between the two is best?

yer defo do a fill flash this photo was taken with a off camera flash ans the sun directly behind him

you could pre-meter off the sky/ background to get that evenly exposed, then lock that exposure settings and then on your flash dial up the flash compensation a couple of stops to light up the dark runners

with 400 runners flash is going to be hard work surely..

just meter for the runner.. you get perfectly exposed subjects but blown out backgrounds.. bit of backlighting on runners hair will look good
