Ive just bought an Acer Aspire one (the 120gb hard drive Linux version). All is fine except I cant work out how to get the photos from my DSLR onto it! Obviously this uses CF cards which wont fit the SD slot...:nono:.

With all my other Windows PCs and Lappys, its simply plug the cables in and wham - done. What do I need to get pics straight from the camera (canon 30D) to the netbook? Is there a piece of software I can use, or would I be better off wiping Linux and installing XP? Its main use is going to be a mobile photo storage device (with some internet use) so its no big deal having Linux (it wont be used for email so virus issues are no concern).

Is there an easy fix using the Linux lite thats on there, or is it a non starter?
 
Am I missing something here? It has usb ports? Then get an sd card reader and plug it in to the usb port.
 
Its Linux, so no plug and play as far as I know. I can't help you but thought other people should know.
 
I tried an old card reader I had lying around which didnt work - that was my first thought but this INFURIATING Linux system doesnt seem to recognise anything. However I popped out this morning to a local computer store and they sold me a card reader that DOES work with the Linux system (shock horror) - and it can now see the memory card.

My next problem is - I need a RAW viewer, because naturally enough the crap photo program thats loaded doesnt recognise RAW. Downloaded several but none work - this is driving me slowly insane.
