New 300mm f2.8

Looks good Pete - certainly nice and sharp.
 
Hi nice and sharp I am looking to get a new 300mm soon have to save some more pennys yet though also will get a convertor to go with it :)

Nice start Pete - the 300/2.8 makes a great 600/5.6, stop down one to f8 and it is pin sharp . BTW it is also very usable with stacked 1.4x and 2x (840mm/8) but AF can be slow (see samples in link below).

I have seen some test with the mkIII and 300/2.8 and it certainly looks better than the mkII - give it a few months and the price should start to drop, I will be surprised if it is not down the £300-£350 within six months.
One big negative for me is that the MkIII converters will not stack.

I have both and the mk3 is much better IMHO, used it on 300 2.8, 70-200 2.8MK2 and a 300 f4.
I bought it from digital Rev at £330 tax paid, excellent upgrade, the only downside is you cant stack them as far as I know.
