New 5D3 firmware, can you get it?

Ok so today's the day that the 5D3 gets the update. I've been to the website and got to the download page. Clicked the Accept & Download button and 'Nothing'. The page title changes for about half a second and then goes back to 'Search'. I've even tried the Canon USA website and that does something very similar so still no joy. :bang:

I'm sure the downloads busy but it would be nice if the webpage actually did something. I'll keep trying and hopefully sometime today I'll get it to work.

Probably either in the process of updating the page, or traffic has rendered it out of action. Will your 5D survive a day or two without it - is there something in the update that you need, today?

I've got a friend coming up from London this afternoon and he wanted to see what his 70-300 L handled like with a 1.4x converter. He's got a 7D at the moment and is thinking about getting a 5D3 but wants to see how his longest lens would work on it.

That's not the only reason he's travelling though, it was just coincidence that he's able to make it today.

Oh right, do you need the update to facilitate this?
 
With the 1.4x on the 70-300 L it'll make it a max aperture of f8 so that's the main reason I wanted to get the update. With my Kenko Pro300 DGX 1.4x it does retain AF with slower lenses, I got it to AF with my Sigma 150-500 OS at f9 the other day in good light, but the AF speed really takes a hit. With the update I'm hoping it'll AF faster with the slower lenses and that's what we wanted to try.
 
Slightly off topic, but when I tried using a Canon 1.4x II Extender with the 70-300mm L lens, I found the extender is not compatible because of the physical lens protrusion into the end mount, but would operate in the limited range of 250-300mm - unless you mean are going to be using a Kenko teleconverter which does work well?

It is the Kenko 1.4x converter that I'll be trying, I use it on quite a few of my lenses and I get some great results from it. I've got a Canon 2x converter but that goes on my 70-200 f2.8L MkII and not much else but I do get some quality shots with that too.

I checked it when I first got on the computer this morning and tried to download it then but it was doing the same then as it is now. Both US and UK try to connect to a site called c-wss.com and then revert back to the Canon 5D3 site. Very frustrating.
 
Well I've just downloaded it again so the problem must be at your end?
 
Admirable, thanks for the heads up. I've just done a reset of my internet settings and I've just downloaded it in about 2 seconds. I'd had some updates on the comp this morning and IE10 had been installed which caused some problems earlier on some sites saying it was an incompatible browser. All fixed now on the comp, now for the camera.
