New canon body

evening all. After some advice for a neighbour. I didn't feel I could give best advice so said I would ask in here

Long story short someone In family died and was left some camera kit. They are a total beginner as such and moving from
A bridge camera. And after a body to go with what they already have

They currently have a
sigma 150-600 c
Canon 50mm stm
Sigma 17-70 c
Canon 55-250 stm
2 x canon 430 flash guns

The son is going of to uni to do some degree that will involve photography

So he is after a body which he can use for motor racing. Asian weddings. Visit to zoo and Wilkie parks etc

So really a good all round camera

Is open to option of trading some of the above glass of need be. And as asked what if the body's would fit best

If he is doing motorsport etc he would want a 7dmk2 if he's doing weddings he would want a 6doersonally would add a bit of cash and get a 5d3 which is a great all round cam for everything required
 
Also the 55-250 lens won't work on the 6d (or 5d3) as they are designed for cropped bodies only.
 
The 17-70 is also for cropped bodies so again rules out 6D. So unless he wants to sell these two lenses the choice is 70D or 7D. If he has the funds go for the 7D mk2.
 
As above he as said he would sell some glass on if need be. I use 70d myself so suggested that as only camera I have owned out of above. And would be the cheaper option so could buy more glass. No doubt 80d will revealed soon so will make 70d cheaper
 
For motor sport and zoo a crop camera (eg 7d Mk2 or 70d) would be better as it effect you will get 1.6x the same distance for the same lens (1.6 is the canon crop factor vs full frame).

The sigma 150-600 would probably be a good lens for either of these although maybe a little on the long side for a zoo and also fairly heavy for a beginner.

The canon 55-250 and sigma 17-70 only fit on crop cameras and wouldn't work on a full frame (eg 6d).

The 6d will be better for weddings as it's a full frame so works better in low light but doesn't have quite as good focus system as the 7d Mk 2 or 70d so wouldn't be as good for motor sport.

Also ideal lenses for weddings are "fast" lenses with wide appature
Eg 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8 but very expensive. Although if a beginner I assume they will be just a second shooter at weddings, therefore could be able to use something more budget end to start off with, or might be able to borrow some kit from the main photographer?

A 5d mk3 would be an ideal compromise but fairly expensive.

The main questions would be
1) budget
2) prioritises
3) purpose ie just hobby or looking to eventually try and pursue from an income perspective?

I'd probably suggest getting a cheap 2nd hand body first, try some of the lenses and take it from there.
 
Neighbour just popped in, showed him what everyone as said... he is taking a trip to LCE tomorrow with some of his lens and going to have a play.. brief chat, weddings are just him taking his own snap shots and doing to odd family wedding as a 2nd shooter.. so i suggested go with a crop body, if his main uses are going to be portrait on his course and motorsport zoo visits etc...

he reckons without moving lens on he as £1500, but will need to get tripod, bags and other accessories
