Hey everyone :)

Picked up an Eos 300D the other day and already have a M42 to Canon adapter...

Presume nothing to worry about? No particulate problem with M42 lenses? I understand it will be manual focus etc but that doesn't bother me...

Bing - Towards the top you go, trying to get an answer before tommorow..

Shouldn't be any problems, just takes a bit of getting used to. You can get a chipped adapter, that gives you focus confirm. Makes it a lot easier.
Have a look HERE for a bit more info.

Should be no problem at all. Just be careful when removing the lens as if you end up with just the adapter left on the front of the camera it's a pain to get off (trust me on this one! :bang:).

I'm using Pentax M42s with my Canon 20D. No problems I have a 'dumb' adapter and a couple of chipped ones, the one from Roxen off ebay is probably the nicest made of the ones I have and has focus confirm.

I leave the adapter on and swap lenses by just unscrewing them. No problems removing the adapter for me though. Perhaps yours is a little tight?

No problems with mine with the AF confirm chip. Some overexposure on some shots, but that can be dealt with by either shooting in Manual or adjusting the exposure compensation. (I just need a bit more practice!)

A couple of my lenses don't focus to infinity, they have a little lip around the mount. I suppose they could be sanded off.

Great fun these Manual lenses, I have some PB and PK fit lenses too. I'm going to post a thread of my latest acquisitions soon :D

Excellent news :D Means I have 3 lenses for my Canon now instead of 1 :p

I only use one M fit lens, so that's not really a viable option :D

It's fine provided there is a lens attached to it!

Great news

My father-in-law has an old Leica 300mm prime on an adapter for his Minolta body and has a great time with it - some really good shots, some **** poor ones as well, but all in the fun of trying these things out

Well i've got a MIRAGE 100-200mm F5.6 and a SIGMA 80-200mm F4.5-22 to try out along side the kit 18-55 :)

Pentax 135mm f3.5 is a nice M42 prime if you find one, only £30-40 for a good one. mine is sharp as a tack on my 20D.

Which is a point, do I need to set them to a certain aperture to work so not to make the Canon have a fit. Or do I use them as normal...

Just use them in Aperture priority mode or full manual and check exposure on the histograms, shoot and tweek. Lenses need to be set for manual aperture ;)

Excellent cheers for the info Bill :)
