New Ideas?

Hi guys!

I've recently (3 weeks ago) moved to university, and since doing that I've picked my camera up probably twice? I'm really missing it, and wondering if I need to set myself a project or something to get back into it. Maybe venture into a new area of photography.

My main area previously was landscapes, but Hull doesn't seem to have many good opportunities, or if it does, I don't know where they are, or how to get there using the bus service..

So I thought maybe some new and fresh ideas would be good to get me back into photography, as I do miss it. At the moment, the university work-load isn't too big. Hours are pretty long in the week, but weekends and evenings are free (as well as Tuesday), so I'm not worrying about time constraints too much yet...until exams in January ;)

Thanks for any ideas you may have!

P.S The university does not have a photography society that I can join, or anything like that, so if anyone was thinking that, it's not an option.

I find Hull photographically one of the more interesting city's I have to visit, its very different to my locality.
Get down to the docks for a bit of a meander, there's always something going on, there are a few rivers, canals, harbour/moorings, **** loads of odd spinning/lifting/rolling iron bridges, falling to bits riverside warehouses, bombed out fish processing buildings.
Hull has character.
Google map the coast from the Humber bridge right up around past The Deep.
One things for sure, it ain't nothin like Sheffield..:)

Put an advert out for models on a tfp basis and do loads of portraiture. Will get loads of willing and creative people coming forward. Great way to meet new people and explore a new genre!

I often stay in the Premier Inn building beside the Deep, i really wish i have my camera everytime im there, so much to see and photograph. Its just a shame im carrying work gear and a laptop that i have no room for my camera plus lenses.

I love Hull, and I think it has a wealth of things to photograph. Just take a stroll down by the Humber, or up the old industrial bits on the River Hull. If you want to meet up with some photographers for a chat and a pint, the Hull Flickr group meets the last Wednesday of the month at the Old Blue Bell on Lowgate/marketplace from 7pm. Everyone's welcome so stop on by if you like.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I should take a stroll round the docks and deep area, then! I'll look into the Hull flickr group meet-ups, too!
