OK in a bit of a conundrum.
Currently shooting with a 5d3 and a variety of lenses , landscapes mostly with the 24mm 2.8IS which i find really sharp. Print sales are going fairly well so decided its time to invest a little back into that side of the business
( good excuse )
However - there are the odd occasions where i really need a small amount of zoom to get the composition right without leaving the precarious rock i am balanced on, and also i am fearful for the 24mm's safety as its quite a lightweight lens with no sealing as such so don't know its going to last that long with the rigors of coastal and landscape photos i will throw at it !
I have my finger on the trigger ready to go for the new 16-35 F4L IS - it would be used on the 5D3 and it may also occasionally get used at weddings for really wide shots though i prefer my 35 and 85 prime on two bodies combo for weddings.
My question is will the new 16-35 F4L IS be as good or better than the 24 2.8 IS Prime as far as quality sharpness etc go , it was once the case primes were always better but not sure that stands now. Anyone got both used both or can throw out any advice on it ?
I have ruled out most other options including the samyang and tamron options for no filters, I also used to have the 17-40L but did not like the poor corners on it. The 11-24 due out just looks overpriced and i dont think i would want 11mm either.
