Hi all,

Currently use a 450D and have 17-55 IS, 50mm F1.8 and 55-250 IS lenses.

I rarely use the original kit lens so looking to replace it with something a little faster. I decided upon a Tamron F2.8 XR but now find that I need to choose between 17-50 and 28-75 and VC vs non VC models.

I'm tending towards a 17-50 non VC but would welcome views and experience.

It would be for general use, the 50mm gets a lot of use for portraits etc but was hoping the new lens may be nearly as fast and sharp but be more flexible.

Thanks in advance

Most say the non-VC versions are the sharpest. The 17-50 is one of the great lens bargains for its price... fast and very sharp.
