My new 17-40mm L lens arrived from Ian (Kerso) on friday. Had a little play with it today, and its fantastic.
Anyone on here use it much for portraiture?
Dean
Congrats on the new lens Dean.
I don't use Canon, but a mate of mine has that lens and swears by it. Uses it for landscapes and portraits at times.
Enjoy the lens mate.
Portraits, Dean? With a 17-40? It's good if you like sticking the lens in someone's face to get the big nose look, but that tends to lose its novelty factor after a while.....

It is a great lens for landscapes but not so great for portraits, unless you are taking shots of couples in wide vistas or groups at 40mm. The better 'portrait zoom' is 70-200.
