I need a new lens for sports photography, but I really don't want to spend tooo much..

I was thinking 70-300mm f/2.8 but then I saw how much they were :( Any suggestions?

I dont know what too much money is for you but I recently purchased a Sigma 100 - 300 f4 for £649. It is tack sharp, great contrast, great colour. It is also quite compact and light. Highly recomended. If your using Nikon then consider the new 70 - 300mm VR, RRP is £399.99. Should be a good contender as well.

If you want bang for buck reach, and don't have much to spend, I can heartily recommend the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro. Obviously it doesn't compare to its more expensive cousins, but like I say, bang for buck you can't go wrong.

It may not be fast enough for sports unless good lighting or flash is involved, but that's something to consider.
