New lens

Decided I'm going to sell my xbox 360 to fund a new lens. I am thinking about a sigma 24-70 2.8. Have read a lot of thugs saying try before you buy because it might be a bad copy? Has anyone on here had any experience in that?

The new HSM may be worth a try after carefully picking one. I wouldn't even go near the older one. I hadn't worse experience with any other lens - very soft, fuzzy and slow; even £90 Canon 28-105 off ebay performed miles better.
