New Nikon FX ?

Saw that a couple of days ago. I'm not sure if it will be the D700 replacement, if it followed the D3 naming convention then it should be the D700s or D700x? But I do think it will be in a semi pro body as it uses the same grip as the D300 and D700.

Not quite sure why they jumped straight to the D900 name, what happened to D800?

If it's a reality then maybe it's not a D700 or a D700x/s or whatever replacement, maybe it's an 18meg and designed to run alongside the eventual D700 upgrade hence skipping the 800. :D

I would just like to say in my defense that my above post seems perfectly logical to me after consuming several cans of Strongbow

I still can't decide if it's going to be another FX camera or a more high spec DX camera to go against the 7D? Maybe they are saving the D800 name for a new FX camera. I've been on the Stella and it makes sense to me.

Most commonly people seem to think the D900 will be a 24mp non-pro body.

But hey, there's loads of crap out there on the interweb - I mean following nikonrumours advanced detective theory you can also expect a Nikon D5 about now, because google gives you hits from websites trying to sell you it....

The only thing the 7D has over a D300s really is a few more MP, I doubt Nikon are that worried about that one. I can see a 5dMk2 competitor as a possibility based on the take-up of video on the SLR bodies, but I'm not sure. I'd like to see a D3xs TBH.
