i've got the nikon 80-200 - paid about £590 from ebay for it - absolutely love love love the lens - its heavy, really sturdily put together - you almost feel that you can hit things with it and it'll still survive. tbh I think for the quality this is probably the best value for money lens out there.

is it the push/pull version ?

A brand new UK Sigma comes with a 3 year warranty while a 2nd hand Nikkor comes with ?

I'm certain that if you pixel-peeped shots taken at 200mm/f2.8 the Nikkor will be sharper but that's not how they get printed (IMHO etc)

(if you need 100% crops then get a longer lens or stand closer ;))

The Sigma I was after was out of stock everywhere I went. The one guy even called Sigma for me. It's only the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM (£1300) that's in stock. My budget was £700.

Sometimes you are in situations where you can't get closer. Like in a wedding ceremony where you are not allowed closer than a certain point :)

I looked for the tongue in cheek smiley but could only find the wink :D

(I've tried getting closer at motosport events but the marshalls objected....)
