Hey There,

I'm very new to bird watching and I am looking to buy my first pair of binoculars, now I am a student and so therefore am on a very, very tight budget (£50).

Is there anything half decent I can get for this?

A couple I have been looking at:

http://direct.asda.com/Celestron-UpC...efault,pd.html

What's the difference between the top link and bottom link (bar the saving of £13?!)

Somebody also suggested these:

Feel free to suggest any items from Argos, Tesco Direct, Asda Direct, Amazon etc

Or would a telescope be better?

Thanks very much for your help!

Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob,
I can't really help with the choice of binos at your price range, my first pair were Bushnell Natureview 8x42 (the best power for bird watching) These are around £100 new so you might pick up a used pair for £50ish. I use Opticron Verano now but I doubt if you would get a pair in your price range. As a matter of interest I had mine reduced direct from Opticron as a "Demo" pair, so that might be a thought if you want maximum quality for your money.
Lastly, although I also have an Opticron spotting scope I wouldn't advise you to get one before a pair of binos, they always come second in my opinion, they are great for closer views once you have located the birds with your binoculars. Hope this has been helpful.
