Strange new worlds, both the image and the technique.

Olive oil on water in a glass dish, coloured backgrounds appx 1m away, lit at 45° from above.

Exposures around 1/10s f8, 100mm lens.

I've done this a few times myself and seen it done really well these are not bad efforts but they could be sharper I suspect it's partially down to the slow shutter speed
