Nikkor 18-200mm VR autofocus

Aargh! 6 weeks out of warranty my lens has stopped working using autofocus. Have checked all switches and tried on other bodies - nothing. My Sigma 10-20 and nifty 50 are all AF-ing like demons on the D90.

Any advice? Terrified of repair costs - I have treated this lens like a baby, and am quite miffed that the AF has gone after less that 1000 actuations.

Really sorry to hear that.

Costs of repair might not be all that bad. Either that or this could be a good way to start learning how to MF? Silver lining and all that

Thanks for your reply mate. I'm hoping for a cheap repair - but I have to confess I'm a manual focus freak in the right circumstances, and I use it a lot. I've probably friar tucked the motor by using the 'm' option too often!
