Nikkor 300mm f2.8 with 2X convertor versus 150-500 OS Siggy

I'm looking to buy a lens to get me closer to aircraft at airshows, and possibly for birding, as well. The question is, does anyone have any experience of using either of these setups, with any photos with Exif data intact they would kindly include in any replies. I'm fully aware of the massive difference in price, but i would like to see just what difference there is between these lenses. I would prefer images taken with Full Frame bodies to be honest, to give me a better idea as i'm using a D3s myself.

never used the 300 2.8 but thats what i would o with, my 50-500mm os is awsome on the d700 but to short for birds, would be ok for airshows,

I rate the 300mm with the new 2 x highly. I use it a lot shooting aircraft. I will try and find a couple of shots. I know I've posted some on here at some point.
