Having bought Nick's D500 on here I'm wanting to upgrade my main walkabout zoom lens soon, currently using a Nikon 16-85 f3.5/5.6 VR. Has anyone compared the Nikon 16-80 f2.8/4 ED VR with the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS EX DC HSM ? The Sigma is tempting due to the constant 2.8 aperture and lower price but is it as good as the Nikon? One review I read criticised it for not being as fast to focus or as good at tracking. Also how does the equivalent Tamron stack up? Thanks.

Never had the Sigma, but I've had 2 Nikon D500's with the "kit" 16-80 F2.8/4 VR, and to be honest, it was one of the best and sharpest DX lenses I've ever owned. Pretty much replaced my old Nikon 17-55 F2.8 over night which was then sold off.

Thanks, both very helpful and backing up my thoughts that the Nikon is the one to go for. Cheers.
