Nikon 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 G ED AF-S VR DX

Could some kind soul please provide me with some retail re this sense. It is the bit after the 5.6 that confuses me as there seem to be several different lenses/lens descriptions. This is not VR11 but it does apparently have two settings for VR.

Help appreciated.

G - Gelded lens, no aperture control on the camera
ED - Extra-low dispertion glass in the lens
AF-S - The lens is an AutoFocus lens, and contains a Silent wave motor - means it'll focus on all modern DX Nikon dSLRs
VR - Vibration Reduction, allows you to shoot at slower shutter speeds with an increased odds of the shot being sharp
DX - The lens is only suitable for use on DX cameras, which have a smaller sensor than tradition SLRs or full frame dSLRs

Thank you - could you explain what the real life impact of Gelded is stumeech, please? Does it impact when using aperture priority on the camera? Also is a D5100 classed as DX? I believe it is.

Sorry if I'm being dumb but I am trying to get to grips with understanding lens tech.

Ynot, thanks. How much are you asking for the lens and how did you find it operationally? Being a new member I cannot get to the Classifieds :-(

Stumeech, think I've got it - Gelded means no aperture control on the lens itself. It is controlled via the camera.

You've got it, the lack of an aperture control on the lens means it wouldn't work on certain film SLRs.
