Nikon 24-85

Hi folks, just been looking at this lens and would like your views on it,

Nikon 24-85 f3.5G ED VR AFS.

For a D700.

Had a quick look myself,seem an ok walk around lens,but in the end when for the 28-300mm,give me just a bit more range

By all accounts it's a decent enough lens. Uncle Ken reckons it's brilliant (it's up to you how much you read into his reviews) but photozone give a decent write-up

Not had any experience with the new VR version, but the old 24-85 af-s was pretty damn good, nice and light, fast focus and sharp at all apertures. You can still pick them up for under £150 as well, I'd be looking at that unless you absolutely need the VR.

MPB had one not long ago for £139, I bought mine from them a year or so ago for around that price.

The prices of Nikon len s/h,keep going up and down,can't keep up with it
