Nikon 300 2.8 VRII

Anyone know if there's a change coming the price has plummeted recently they are now £3450 down from £3999 I've been thinking of getting 2nd hand recently but new is getting really tempting

That was my thought, should i wait to see if the price would drop further. I looked at camera price buster website and it stated that the 300mm f2.8 is the cheapest i has ever been., I was about to buy a used minty off mpb photographic but it was actually more than a brand new one, I bit the bullet last week and bought new. for £3450

I have always been very pleased with my 300mm f2.8 VR - (the first Mk 1 version) - it is good with the TC14Ell

The only new "competition" I can see Adam is the Nikon 300mm f4 PF VR - (see the thread on here discussing this lens)

Thank you Paul and Bill, and yes Paul I'm the same suddenly new is cheaper than 2nd hand for the VRII in most places, I see john Lewis also at £3450 now too

I got mine through currys as there is a local store
Jessops were willing to price match once I sent a link to the currys Web page showing their price. I really want to take it out to give it a try but work is preventing that at the mo.

I think the price drops are due to the Sterling / Yen exchange rate. There have been substantial price drops on all the big white Canon lenses recently too.

Noticed John Lewis have dropped off the "camera Price Buster" list for this lens (they were equal lowest on price last week) maybe limited stocks left? Not many other Nikon lenses are dropping in price.
