Nikon 80-200 Ai N

Can anyone offer advice as the best way to use this on a D3300, I'm assuming put it in manual mode and then set aperture on the lens and SS in camera?
Cant get it to work in Live view so far.
any help greatly appreciated.

I might be wrong, but I don't think you will get any metering with that combination.
But yes, set aperture manually on lens, and SS on camera.

You will only get metering on Nikon bodies DXXX and up

You got a 3300 then... Have you kept the x100?
