Nikon 85/1.4 - Where's the serial?

Can't seem to find it on the used copy I just bought and it hasn't got any documents or box.
Thought I'd quite like to find out how old it is?

It should have. I'll have a look when I get home. I seem to remember that it was difficult see on mine too.

Yes, that'll be it. I have a couple of Nikkors where I struggled to find the serial number. Magnifying glass would have been handy.

That's the 50 1:4 not the 85 1:4. I have had another look and cannot find a serial number on my 85 1:4 :shrug: There must be one somewhere but I can't find it.

Hopefully Kev will shed some light on it when he has a look at his later.

Yep. After looking for it a few times and missing it I have now found it. Had to use my glasses and it is very faint.

Sorry, I clicked on the wrong link.

The lens in question must a serial number. I had a look on the Nikon site for product registration and if you select that lens a serial number is required to get it registered.

Yep. Exactly the same as Flashmans image. Except mine has a serial number. His must be a stolen one...

It is very difficult to see though. But if yours hasn't got one at all. Don't worry. It just means its a fake.

Found it! I'm sure I looked everywhere on it before! Was on the aperture ring! Mine is post 2006, woohoo!
