Nikon 85 mm/3,5 nicro

I have a Nikon D300s and would like to buy a macro lens. Is there someboby on the forum that have used this lens. Is it sharp and what about blurred background. Do you need to step it down to f8 or f11 to get sharp pictures. What about focusing speed.

Macro lenses are much of a muchness. They are pretty much all sharp corner to corner. You're going to need to stop down to at least f/10/11 at 1:1 magnification to get more than about a mm in focus, so the maximum aperture isn't really important. Chances are you're going to be manually focusing at that magnification as well.

Consider the 105mm sigma and 90mm tamron as well, both are good lenses
