Nikon AF 70-300 F3.5-5.6G

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of this lens? What difference is there between this and the AF-S lens? I tried googling it but didn't come up with much.

My local shop has one for £79 and I'm not sure how it will work or how effective it will be on my D7000 as a stop gap till I can afford the newer one.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

Optically, it's not as good as the later AFS VR ones but it's not too bad. You might be able to get about the same for it when you trade it in against a VR one. Your D7000 has an AF motor in the body so will AF with any F-AF mount lens.

I was buying as the AFS VR one came out and although I never tried the older one it was trashed by most online reviewers at the time.

I was really happy with my VR version though - the focus was quick, the lens was sharp and the VR works!

However for £79... like the other poster said you can always trade it in for that - just don't beat yourself up if your images aren't as good as you expect!
