Yes
Just picked up the Nikon AF-S 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED DX for a bargain £139 used but in excellent condition from MPB Photographic.

The cheapest I can find it online is £339 new, so I'm really hoping there won't be some kind of catch I'm missing. If anyone knows any reason why I should be concerned, please let me know! I keep thinking the price is too good to be true.

I'm going to be replacing my D60's 18-55 kit lens with this one on the recommendation of you lot! I'll let you know how much of an improvement it is when it arrives (hopefully around about the time my D60 makes it back from the repair people).

The 18-70 was the kit lens some while ago and people sold it on when they upgraded to better glass. Most regret doing so and I include myself in that. The 18-70 is a cracking little lens, have fun with it.........

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the cheapest I can find one for is £105 inc. P&P on eBay here. Don't get me wrong, it's a good lens, but I don't think you got much of a bargain! =/

Heh, that's okay. At least I know I'm not missing something - I don't mind the extra I paid for a 6 month guarantee so won't sweat it too much.

You can never keep up with Ebay!

£139 is a reasonable price for it. Provided that you got full warranty from a high reputation company.

They're normally sold around £105 here or ebay, but the condition would be worse, and plus, you don't have warranty.

This is true! As you and others have said, the warranty makes it worth it I'd imagine, peace of mind is a wonderful thing :)

I got a Nikon 28-80mm 3.3-5.6G from a carboot sale along with a Nikon F65, for the grand total of £29 which I was quite chuffed with! Only problem with the lens is when manually focusing it sounds like you're beating down a sandcastle! Other than that it's perfect :) F65 is flawless too!

EDIT: Gosh, ! overload there...oh well xD

Yeah, I'm going travelling in just under a month so warranty is quite important right now (assuming I don't drop it off a cliff or something).

Well done on that bargain, Tom! Deserves the exclamation marks...

It's a very good walkabout lens, still use mine regularly.
It came stuck to the front of my D70 a few years back.

Fantastic lens, very sharp in the right light, quick to focus and good to handle. One of my favourite lenses.

Contemplating getting a Tamron 17-50/2.8, but probably won't sell the 18-70!

~£130 is about the going rate for a good condition s/h one, so what you paid is about right. I'd expect one for ~£105 to show a fair few signs of use...

i see one for sale here for 18-70 - £90 delivered 50 quid saving
Nikon AF-S 18-70 DX Legendary still got mine as a back up :)

I'm pretty sure I sold mine for £170 about a year ago.

Is a cracking lens as stated. You won't regret it.

They normally go for £100-£130, so you've done ok, i have one on the front of my D90, one of Nikons finest DX lenses without a doubt, sharp fairly fast and a nice range for walkabout :)
