Nikon AF-S DX and Sigma DG lenses on F60 Body

I have occassionally usued the Nikon AF lenses from my F60 on my Nikon D80 body but as yet have never used any of my AF-S DX lenses on my F60.....I think they will work except for the fact of vignetting ( that's not a big problem ..in fact it may make the image for me!
My concern is that the lenses and body will work without problem as I don't want to damage the rear element of a lens if the mirror catches it!

I fancy running some film off during the Christmas period but would like to be a bit more creative by using some different lenses that I have.

As far as I know it's only Canon that has the mirror crash problem if using EF-S lens on a FF or aps-h body. Sigma DG lenses should be fine too as they are full frame, the DC lenses are crop.

Learnt something new as I didn't know that the DG lenses were full frame.....does that mean there won't be vignetting on 35mm film shots taken with the sigma DG ( it's a prime 20mm!)

I'm wondering if you're confusing vignetting with the image circle not covering the sensor/film frame?

I don't consider the two to be the same thing but given the results which showed up in google images when I tried to find these examples it seems consider the image circle not covering the frame to be a 'vignette'.

So, you won't get the 1st result from using a Sigma DG lens on a 35mm film camera no. You will probably get some of the 2nd result though but it is obviously, less of an issue.

Might also be worth saying, if you have an AF-S DX lens such as an 18-55mm and put it on your F60 you will probably only get the circle problem at the wide end, I'm not sure exactly where it'll become invisible but as you zoom in the image circle will expand and by 55mm should be all you see.

Yes you are quite correct that I was classing both situations to be vignetting....more from what i had read on the internet than my own personal observations.

To be honest neither of the issues shown in your examples will cause me a problem...quite the contrary as I like to experiment and be creative.

My primary concern for obvious reasons was causing damage to my lenses when I press the shutter button and the mirror flips up past the rear element!

You should have no problems then. Infact, it must be safe because I remember the D3 had a DX crop mode that could be automatically enabled if you put a DX lens on it and I infact id that when I had a shoot and my 28-70mm had gone on the blink, I put the 18-55mm from my D50 on it. I know that's a FF digital camera but the mirror and mirror box dimensions should be the same as on a 35mm slr.
