Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II

Probably a silly question and I think I know the answer but anyway.

Where it states it’s f2.8- I’m assuming it’s not a fixed aperture lens and that it can go to f2.8 at both lengths?

It can do f2.8 ( or any other f-stop) throughout its range.

I have that lens and it is f2.8 at 70 and 200mm. My Nikon 80-400mm lens is stamped F1.45 5.6 to show the aperture at either end of the mm length.
