You ahve asked and answered the question yourself.. I doubt there is any other general answer..

However if you get down to type of photography there may be some differences.. But as the question was general then so is the answer :)

Not much to choose between them apart from personal feel. Some would say that Nikon has a better flash system (possibly remedied in the forthcoming 7D which may filter down the range) but Nikon don't have an answer to the MPE65 macro lens or some of the semi-pro f4 lenses.

Fixed Canon in the title for you :whistling:

So mods are biased then:)

Never mind they always need to sell more copiers

Do many favour the Canon then for the more wider range of lenses they produce ??

Oh and thanks for changing the Nikon made me chuckle :o)

I do see were u are going Dave yeah, i have a BMW but would have an Audi tomorrow lol just wanted people's thoughts on why they choose canon why they like canon and same for the Nikon camera.

Sorry Andy, couldn't resist that :)

I've got Canon simply because they made the first affordable autofocus 35mm slr in the 1000F. I had a few lenses and the cheapest way of going digital at that time was sticking with Canon.

If I was starting again today with a clean sheet I'd probably go with Nikon, I realy like the look of them and the D3 especially is fantastic. The camera's just a tool as far as I'm concerned. A system switch would be like driving a new car, a bit different to start with but they all basically do the same thing.

Edit: Dave beat me to it

HAHA no worries dod it did make me chuckle, i love my NIkon D90 and really need to get out more and take some pics during the day as i only have been doing club photography upto now.

Just seem to find loads of people using the canon so me asked :o)

The only reason I am Canon now is that when I bought my first (film) SLR, Canon was producing the Ae1, which had shutter priority, which suited my needs at the time.

I do think it's worth looking at which lenses and flashes you're likely to want before buying into any particular system. The problem is that's not always obvious in itself.

Canon have some not-too-rediculously-expensive gems in lens department - 55-250mm IS, 28-135mm IS, 85mm F1.8, 70-200 F4L for example.

Nikon I'm sure do as well, perhaps a Nikonean will add such comment :)

HTH

When i bought my D90 i only got the body only but now im looking for a lens thats an all rounder.
