...thought I'd rack the brain coffers of TPers for the answer. No pressure then 
Am looking at a friend's 7.1MP point and shoot. Sometimes when pressing the Wide and Telephoto button to zoom in and out of an image, the image freezes and everything locks up (regardless of whether the optical zoom is out or not) and the only way to get the camera going again is to take the batteries out and put them back in..
I'm thinking this is a software/processor fault and there are no firmware updates available from Nikon for this camera.
Any suggestions please guys? I'm tempted to say that it would be uneconomical to repair as the camera is out of warranty; 7.1MP cameras are available for around £60 these days.
