Decided I need to get a couple more batteries for my D3100 for this coming weekend as the colder weather might kill my single battery as will the many photos

Do I need to get Nikon ones, or will aftermarket ones work as I have heard rumours some cameras don't like aftermarket ones and I don't have much time to sort this, taking into acount charging them

Any D3100 owners shed brands or advice on this

Any shops in leeds area or next day delivery shops that can be recommended

Found a good price on some OEM ones so ordered a couple to play it safe:thumbs:

Are these the same batteries that went in the old D60? If so, I think I have a couple sitting in my cupboard at home if anyone wants them...

I found them in amazon, they were advertised as Nikon battery's and feedback was they were original, should know tomorrow if they are and they work

I'm not sure, they are EN EN14's

I may be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that 3rd party batteries don't work on the D3100 unless in a battery grip when twinned with an official one??

i've read that myself, that why i was a little worried, hoping that these will be ok, if not then i'll have to return them:|

Thanks for looking though:thumbs:

(Just noticed my mistake, EN EL14 not en14)

I have some third party batteries for mine (came with a battery grip) that I can test and let you know about tonight (although I won't be home until late).

Do you mind saying where you got them from? I ordered a EN-EL14 from Amazon on sunday night and, been tighter than a tight thing went for the free delivery option. Order said it would arrive on Friday - fine thought I.

However, it has just arrived - so it only took 2 days  - seems a bit :cuckoo: to pay the extra for next day delivery.

Listed as original Nikon battery and sold by Sinclair Intl

Got the Nikon logo and in the correct box with an instruction manual and holograms. All looking good so far. Will fit it in when I get home and see if it works perfectly. Fingers crossed

i bought mine from the same seller "Sinclair Intl"

Because Im setting off to the lakes first thing Saturday morning i didn't want to risk not getting them in time to charge them up and test them, so opted for next day by 1pm for £8.99

You post has given me a bit of confidence back now though, as i was worried they wouldn't work and i would have to run around trying to source locally as i don't want to drive for a days photography and run out of battery power:thumbs:

Battery carefully compared to hte one that came with the camera. Front is the same; at the back the Japanese characters look the same but one very small difference. Original has "Nikon" on it - the other "OS Elec".

Battery accepted by camera with no error message so am happy. I suppose the real test will how long it lasts - but for 1/2 the price - can't grumble yet

my batteries have both arrived, in Nikon Boxes and with all the relevant holograms in place, it looks like they have change manufactures and it now says made in china instead of japan

both worked in my camera, and are now been charged to check

panic and worry over:clap: thanks to all those who have helped and posted:thumbs:

Can't remember what I said to the sales bloke to get it, but they knocked 15 quid off a genuine Nikon battery in Jessops for me last year :)
