Am I making a good choice? I want a camera that will stay with me for a good few years. One to keep as I hopefully improve with practice and courses, a common/universal make so that advice and tips are readily available, one that is suitable for motorsports photography in the main. (this is important) one that has a wealth of lenses to hire for.

I appreciate that I will probably need to splash out on a lens as the kit lenses although seem pretty good might not be the best for fast moving motorsport.

I have seen some pretty good deals out there however I may end up buying just the body and a lens separately (depends on cost)

So my choice is Nikon D5000. What do you think. Will hopefully be purchasing this week as I have a motorsport event next weekend.

All advice greatly accepted.

Thanks

Del

yes - I have one and am really pleased with it - it has taken me through the NCFE Level 1 Photography course without any problems.

OK it is DX, however, if you are starting out, the really good value it represents, as well as the scope of all the Nikon lenses and accessories is a real bonus.

You will definitely be happy with the camera, just make sure you get to grips with all the settings and menu options.

You won't be disappointed :)

The IQ is as good as the D90, and the replacement for that and the D300s is still awaited, maybe because there is nothing wrong with the current processors in the 90/300/5000. Buy with confidence.........
