Nikon D700 problem please help

Hi guys

Something weird is happening with my D700 and I'm at a total loss how to solve it.

Basically every time I take a shot using flash I press my shutter and the af assist lamp comes on then the camera takes the pic after a slight delay. I use continuous focus mode and have checked the custom settings and I have the af assist lamp deactivated so why it keeps on coming on baffles me.

If I take a pic without flash it doesn't come on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try bending your hotshoe down slightly so it's a more snug fit. Had the same problem and it was caused by carrying D700 upside down with SB900 on a black rapid. It kind of stretched the hotshoe. Stopped doing it after I stopped using the black rapid.

Have a look to see if you have flash red eye reduction turned on. It would do exactly what you describe if you have?
