Nikon D80 question, "BULB"

Hi all
not sure if this is the right place to post but looking for some help please :

Just taken my 1st light trail shot & want (I think) a longer exposure time. I can go up to 30 secs then the display screen says "bulb"
Not sure but think this enables you to set a longer exposure time but can't work out how

I tried reading the manual but got nowhere fast so thought I'd ask around in here

anyone any idea's ...please

Press shutter release once to open shutter and again to close, best done with a shutter release cable and a stop watch or anything else to monitor time.

Just ordered a remote cable so will give it a try next weekend

In the meantime use your self timer.

just to be controversial, I thought it was press and hold for as long as you want the shutter open? Could be wrong (and I'm using a D90) Either way, best using the remote as keeping your finger down/ pressing again is bound to shake your camera and mess up all your images!

Thanks for the info peeps ,all sorted with a remote cable.Been trying it out with light trails & some indoor stuff,works a treat & only £5 new from ebay
