Nikon D810 noise.

Hi folks,
In the past I had a D800 paired with a Nikon 500mm F4 VR and I loved the pairing.i shoot aviation and was quite happy shooting up to 1600 ISO with no problems.i sold both and now I have another Nikon 500mm F4 VR with a D810 and I can't say I'm happy with the noise on it,I certainly wouldn't use 1600 ISO.
Has anyone else had issues or have heard of any problems with the D810?
 
I don't own a 500/f4 nor have I owned a D800 but I have used my D810 @ iso 1600 with a 70-200/f4 and have no real complaints about noise, it is what I'd expect to see tbh and perfectly usable imo. Maybe stick a raw file up in dropbox?
 
I use my D800e with a 400 f2.8 & am happy to 6400.
I'd expect yours to be at least as good.
