Yes
It's only the ampage it draws! It should be ok but just won't last as long and possibly not recharge the pop up flash so quickly! It won't damage camera

Ian,

Nikon also did a genuine 1900mAH battery that fits and works ok but doesn't last as long; the EN-EL4, (D2 era?) which has a slightly shorter life compared to their EN-EL4a. (which I must say is brilliant).

Not heard of 2450mAH but you do get to hear of very 'good' fake Nikon copies. Was it Amazon Market place or Amazon itself?

Duracell do a non Nikon branded version at 2200mAH but at a suitably tidy price too. http://www.duracelldirect.co.uk/digital-camera/nikon/d3x-battery-adapter-charger.html

Interesting a feedback on that Amazon page states it is not a genuine Nikon one but everyone else seems happy. The watermark on the image is even that of Adorama.

Hope it performs ok.

I never saw the watermark to be honest.

Just be looking around and the Nikon store actually state 2450mah

Battery EN-EL4a
Intelligent, high-power Li-ion rechargeable battery with on-board microcontroller for advanced power management. 2450mAh capacity.

Update:

Just spoke to Nikon online chat and this was the reply.

Stephen Williams: Thank you for your patience Ian, I have looked into this and it appears that EU regulations have changed the way we can provide the information that are printed on certain batteries ( The EN-EL4a would be included in this) so while the way it is printed appears different, there is no difference in the specification of the batteries
