nikon flash advice

i`m considering buying an sb700 flash but before i splash my cash what other makes and models should i give consideration to.

You could look at the SB-900 or Nissin Di622 and 866 or some of the Metz guns, however if it was me I'd just get the SB-700 if the 900 is too big for you.

You could also have a look at a second hand SB 800.
