I was just looking at some photos from the world canoe slalom champs, they have the following exif data and I just wondered what lens/extender combo could have been used.

Camera Maker: NIKON CORPORATION
Camera Model: NIKON D3
Image Date: 2010-09-12 09:53:34 +0100
Focal Length: 650.0mm (35mm equivalent: 650mm)
Aperture: f/4.8
Exposure Time: 0.0004 s (1/2500)
ISO equiv: 640
Exposure Bias: +0.33 EV
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: shutter priority (semi-auto)
White Balance: Auto
Flash Fired: No

Maybe the 200 - 400mm Nikkor plus 1.7TC.

Or wrongly reported focal length in the EXIF.

I saw one on here the other day that reported 650mm but it was taken with a 300 2.8 and 1.7x TC - or so the photographer claimed when I asked.

No idea, I asked what he used to get 650mm and he said it must be wrong.

Actually, just found the thread and it was 700mm not 650mm we were discussing.

Cheers Chaps

I checked with two different EXIf readers on several of the photos and all had the same 650mm and f4.8, must admit the f4.8 has me a little confused as I don't think you can get that on a Canon.
