Nikon magnifying eye-piece DK-21M

Hello folks,

From what I read, the DK-21M clips over the eye-piece after the protective rubber is removed. Magnification is then supposed to go up to 117%.

Has anyone tried one and deemed it a worthy investment?

I got one for my D300s and felt that it had an adverse effect (viewfinder image less sharp). That surprised me because my D700 uses a different magnifying eyepiece and it has a positive effect.

I've got it for the D700 with the DK-19 rubber eye cup, I find it a bit more useful if using manual focus.

Ow, that's a bummer.

I heard that the DK-17M actually replaces the original viewfinder glass, so maybe that's the reason.
