Nikon Oops

love the music from that advert, and tbh, no one would really care that it wasn't a nikon. It's an advert, and most adverts lie/bend the truth.

we all know CILIT BANG! doesn't work as well as it claimed :D

Pretty much any advert for point and shoot cameras are faked in one way or another. The Lumix adverts are pretty bad for it too. But this was a pretty obvious fail on Nikon's part. I mean, it was a Robbie Williams gig, that video must have been seen millions of times!

It does if you shout loud enough.

Scares the dirt away:)

Radical Face – Welcome Home, Son

Most? All of them.

I'm perfectly sure that the 'parents' at 'Snow White's' 'wedding' were actors, guy with the two girls was not at a party either. It was made up for the advert as well. The happy people at the pyramids we paid to be there, dressed and made-up by professionals and directed to look as if they were just regular tourists....

The whole façade is 'fake'. That Nikon mask in a camera that looks more like the range they are trying to sell is not an 'Oops' - it's normal.

Is it me who can’t really see what a big deal it is?

Yes, I know Nikon should perhaps have supplied a camera for the occasion, but is it any more or less of a fail than photoshopping out a spot on a models face or removing a telepgraph pole from a Wedding Photo etc?

It's a pretty well put together and creative advert that the majority of people who see it will think 'COOL!'

That majority will also not be geeky enough to see these posts and won't really care about the special effects that went behind it!....Let's face it, everybody cheats every now and again!

It's a great ad that will appear to a very high number of compact camera users.

I dont see why it's an issue either. They obviously saw the opportunity to use a piece of spontaneous film that Robbie and his media bods agree they could use and were creative in their production. Great. If everything was factual with no creativity, adverts would be even more boring than they often are now.

See that Citroen advert that was running a little while back? They couldnt do that because they didnt actually pull the roof of the car off and find another underneath. Nuh uh! :nono:

:plusone:

So few people will know of the original clip. The advert itself is good I think. It certainly got my attention and made me watch rather than day dream or change channel like I usually do when crap adverts come up. Nikon knew exactly what they were doing and it won't make a difference to how effective their marketing campaign is.

They certainly did a good job with the editing.. and as said above, which adverts dont lie these days?

an advert is a medium of sales and marketing so of course they have to make there products look good.

celebrity endorsement is massive at the moment and having Robbie Williams with a Nikon camera will make people think "oh cool I'm going to have to same what he's got".

and of course the scenes are fake, the Nissan car didn't really do stunts while having paint thrown at it! the bloke from the royal family wouldn't really shop at farmfoods!

advertising is for selling and making the public aware of you product...oh by the way did anybody watch the first gadget show when their task was to advertise the gadget show using those cool techniques such as 3D and augmented reality etc.

I just wonder what Robbie's picture turned out like.
