I'm looking to improve my macro/close up work with the addition of a dedicated flash
i quite like the look of the Nikon R1 unit and should work well with my D200 but not with my D500 unless i buy the remote unit to trigger the flash
Alternatively there is a macro flash that will work with both, either marumi or sigma
What would you go for ? and why and do you have any experience with the nikon unit
